Chief Executive Officer
Steve Janjic has more than twenty years of experience in the financial markets. Prior to joining Amercanex, he was the Director of FX Sales at Tullett Prebon, one of the world’s largest and oldest institutional brokerage firms. At Tullett Prebon, Dr. Janjic established a global sales force focusing on Institutional e-Commerce and Prime Brokerage Sales/Distribution. Previously, Dr. Janjic was the Global Head of eFX/IRS Sales and Distribution at Christopher Street Capital (GFI Securities Group). He also held a similar position with Morgan Stanley’s FX Group.
Dr. Janjic’s extensive experience includes successfully managing e-commerce trading room technology, most recently in low-latency e-trading technology, executable streaming prices, request-for-quote, execution algorithms, price aggregation, white-label solutions and pricing retail e-platforms. He has held a senior management position in several global organizations and played an integral part in the success in a number of thriving startup companies, such as the 2010 IPO of Gain Capital Group.
Dr. Janjic studied finance at the University of South Carolina and obtained his M.D. from St Mary’s Medical College.
Head of Product Development and Co-Founder
Adam has spent the majority of the last decade in the financial industry with a specialization in the foreign exchange markets. Prior to joining Amercanex, he was a Senior Vice President with a renowned FX liquidity/technology provider. Mr. Martin has held key positions with various brokers, including a senior role with Forex Capital Markets (FXCM) institutional operations.
Mr. Martin possesses a depth of experience, knowledge and understanding of electronic trading technologies built for clearing and settling derivatives such as FX, precious metals and CFD products. He has been responsible for managing trading desks and operations departments while implementing policies, protocols and procedures to facilitate client-onboarding, account mapping-configuration, liquidity management, transaction auditing, compensation tracking, technical support and customer service. In addition, he has served as liaison to several domestic and international regulatory authorities.
President, US Markets & Chief Operating Officer
Michael Herron is an accomplished Wall Street professional with more than two decades of investment sales management experience, including fostering startup companies from small scale to multi-billion dollar operations. Prior to joining Amercanex, he held senior positions at Merrill Lynch, MF Global Inc. and Viper Trading.
In 2000, Mr. Herron pioneered the launch of a new online trade execution software for professional futures and stock traders. The software was such a success that it resulted in Viper Trading becoming one of the largest online brokerage firms on the West Coast. At MF Global, he recruited, trained and led the investment sales trading and operations team for the West Coast Office, developing institutional relationships with multi-billion dollar pension plans, endowments, foundations and introducing brokers.
Mr. Herron holds FINRA licenses Series 7 & 65, NFA licenses Series 3 & 30, and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Level 1 Designation. He was previously registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA).
President, International Markets
Dennis Garces has 25 years of experience with blue-chip entertainment corporations. As senior executive in both Canada and the US at A&M, PolyGram, Universal/Vivendi, Sony, BMG US and Somerset Group North America, he developed campaigns and brand partnerships that involved a multitude of multi-million selling artists.
Garces was involved in marketing and partnerships of such brands as American Idol, Mattel and the Grammy Awards music series. At MTHRTY, a social publishing agency, he worked with a variety of industries developing digital strategies and implementing numerous campaigns on behalf of such global clients as Sony, Proctor & Gamble, SAB Miller, Toyota, Disney, Walmart and AT&T.
Garces also co-founded InsightAction Inc., a data analytics company with clients such as Direct Energy, Brown Forman, Chrysler and Nestle. In addition, he serves as an advisor for investors, and works with several start-ups.
Chief Technology Officer
Marc Asselin has over 20 years of experience in software development, architecture and management. He is the founder and President of mLabs, a leading software development consulting company, as well as the founder of Voler, an Unnamed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imaging company for the construction and surveying industry. Voler was recently granted FAA 333 exemptions to fly UAVs commercially in the United States.
Prior to joining Amercanex, Mr. Asselin was Vice Chairman for the MIT Enterprise Forum of Florida and served as an Advisory Board Member with the Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida. His areas of expertise include, C#, .NET, MVC, Bootstrap, JQuery, Azure, SQL Server 2000-2012, SQL Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, WPF, WCF, OLAP, SOA, Web API, SaaS, OOD, Oracle, mobile development, REST APIs and web services, NUI, Kinect SDK, OpenNI + NITE, C, C++, Java, 3D Motion Capture, and mobile development for the Android and Apple platforms.
Chief Compliance Officer
Steven Ferrara has more than 20 years of experience in financial regulation, corporate auditing and market surveillance. During his career, he has coordinated CFTC compliance, capital audits and analysis of several major trading firms at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), including Pioneer Futures, ABN AMRO, Premiere Futures and UBS Securities.
Mr. Ferrara began his career as a Staff Auditor in Financial Surveillance at NYMEX, where he was promoted to Supervisor in charge of ensuring marketplace integrity and compliance with exchange and CFTC rules and regulations. He helped open the ABN AMRO Brent Oil booth at NYMEX’s Dublin trading floor and served as the Comptroller and Compliance Officer for Pioneer Futures and Pioneer Capital. Later, Mr. Ferrara held positions as NYMEX Floor Operations Manager at Premiere Futures, Inc. and Chief Compliance Officer of Liquid Futures, LLC before managing the business and financial aspects of a family of high net worth.
A graduate of Fordham University, Mr. Ferrara holds a bachelors degree in accounting. He also earned his certification as a Certifed Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Chief Financial Officer
Jason Brown, CPA has more than 20 years of experience working in taxation, accounting and financial consulting. His career combines his superior financial skills with his passion for collaborating with entrepreneurs and accelerated growth companies.
Mr. Brown’s professional experience includes federal, multi-state and international taxation; mergers and acquisitions; due diligence and exit strategy planning; CFO and investment strategy services; financial business modeling and statement preparation.
Mr. Brown serves as the mentor for the Florida Atlantic University Tech Runway and Director at Startup Pop. He is Chairman Emeritus for the Angel Forum of Florida and Former Director of Gold Coast Venture Capital Association. Additionally, he has published numerous articles, given presentations, sat on expert business panels and served as a judge for Startup Quest and Startup Broward.
Executive Vice President of Merchant Processing Solutions
Luc Nelson has more than seven years of experience working in compliance, banking and payment processing solutions for the cannabis industry. He previously managed several NGO projects providing services to communities in California.
Mr. Nelson has worked in a number of aspects of the cannabis industry, including helping to ensure California collectives were fully in compliance with existing state laws and standard operating procedures before focusing on banking solutions and payment processing for the industry. During this time, he built relationships with multiple banks and processing entities.
Mr. Nelson then began consulting with a variety of organizations, advising investors on opportunities in the industry, managing the running of several companies and handling the applications of groups applying for recreational licenses. He currently owns two companies and is in the process of starting a non-profit organization.
Vice President of Operations
Lisa Hopkins began her career in the fashion industry, working in the Operations Department for the Italian luxury menswear company Ermenegildo Zegna. Her experience at the fashion company led to a position at the prestigious financial firm of Morgan Stanley, where she worked as a Sales Assistant in finance. In this position, Ms. Hopkins supported all levels of executive staff, including Managing and Executive Directors. She was recognized for maintaining the highest performance ratings in her team across a diverse range of administrative functions, such as office management, fiscal budgets, organizing conferences and client meeting management.
Ms. Hopkins carried her success into the Institutional Corporate Marketing Group as a Marketing Associate covering the Asian Region. In this role, she was the key point of contact for building strong client relationships between Sales and Investor Relations groups across Hong Kong, Korea, India and Australia. As the lead coordinator for US-based conferences for Asian companies, Ms. Hopkins executed all event logistics, managed budgets, advised senior management on investor relationships and ensured all program details exceeded expectations. She also traveled to Hong Kong and Singapore to participate in the annual financial conferences. Ms. Hopkins graduated with honors from Montclair State University.
Strategic Industry Consultant
Josh Ginsberg is a lifelong entrepreneur with more than a decade of cannabis expertise. He co-founded and built the Native Roots brand from the ground up to become the largest legal marijuana production and distribution company in the world.
While CEO at Native Roots, Ginsberg grew the company from two to 20 retail locations and nearly 700 employees, managed operations of the largest indoor cultivation facility in existence at 200,000 sq. ft., and oversaw the production of more than 30,000 lbs. of cannabis a year. He was one of the first to enter the Colorado cannabis industry, holding badge number 54 out of more than 70,000 issued by the Marijuana Enforcement Division.
Ginsberg now sits as the Chairman and remains a partner of Native Roots. He has started getting involved in new ventures that allow him to utilize his industry knowledge and experience to help other cannabis-related organizations flourish.
Ginsberg earned dual degrees in Economics and Computer Science from Bucknell University. He was selected for JP Morgan’s Young Executive Program in New York City, a highly regarded internship program that selects industry innovators. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two daughters.
Director of Communications
Erica Reilly is in charge of developing and implementing key communications strategies and initiatives for Amercanex. Ms. Reilly has an extensive communications background in the commodities industry, having previously worked at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), Commodity Futures Brokers & Traders Association (CFBTA) and Greenberg Capital LLC. In these roles, she handled public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, employment communications and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Amercanex, Reilly created internal and external communications for Guardian Life and New Jersey Skylands Insurance. She studied communications at Ohio University and Columbia University.
